Backyard

Planting vegetables behind the low cement wall. With small space just enough for my 菜心to grow. Mango tree planted in a pot. However, I didn't put stones under before adding the soil. It was my mistake. I bought this fruit tree at Stutong market when I go for weekly grocery. Aloe vera given by my mother. The small pot beside (not in the picture) contains aloe vera given by my husband's colleague. 韭菜which could be harvest about once a month. Remember to add fertilizer after each harvest. 2 pots of plants bought at 6th 1/2 Mile poultry shop cost RM35 each. After given fertilizer to grow flowers, the roses blooms. But, the leaves suddenly drops one by one and grew new leaves since my mother move it into a new pot. It is very sensitive if not being watered frequently, at least 2 times a day. Roasted/ Baked assorted vegetables

Before going into the oven Out of the oven 1 tomato 2 small carrots 1/2 packet of mushroom bought at Stutong market. Grated cheddar cheese Brocolli 1 Red capsium Olive oil Salt & Black pepper Chopped all the vegetables and fit into the aluminium tray covered with aluminium foil. Better if not overlapping the vegetables. Add grated cheese on the tomato top. Add salt and black pepper. Drizzle olive oil specially for roasting purpose. Bake at 170 celcius for 30 minutes. (Roast the tomato with cheese for 20 minutes and continue roasting the rest assorted vegetables.)

Baked lemon tilapia

Season with salt &pepper, lemon juice and blended garlic. Top with butter and slices of lemon. Cover with aluminium foil. Bake at 150 celcius for 15 minutes.

How to use 'mat cho'?

I use mat cho for my whole family. My mat cho comes from Muara Tuang house, my mother's second house of a semi low cost type of single storey terrace house. My mum bought the mat cho small plant at 10th mile market and planted it beside our house. It is then grown into numerous size as described by my mother. I wanted too to have it at my house so my mother plant it for me in a flower pot. Add in a basin full of water with 3 or more of mat cho. Suitable for small kids and even grown up. As a chinese, I believe in Mat Cho which protects a child from evil spirit by bathing a child in Mat Cho bathing water after recovery from illness. This is to ensure that a child shall not misbehave if bath frequently. My daughter are bath with mat cho once a week. Mat cho is also used to wash face before entering own's house after attending a funeral at the deceased's house. Casserole/Chessy Baked Pasta with Beef

Tomato beef: Oil Garlic 1 onion Beef bought at Everise,Viva City marinated in Maggie oyster sauce (Chop it until it become minced beef) Tomato puree (1 canned about 220g) Pepper Salt Pasta: 3 cups of elbow pasta salt Boiling water Bechamel sauce: 4 tbsp of butter 1 1/2 tbsp of plain flour 1 1/2 cups of milk 1/2 cup of grated Cheddar cheese Toppings: 1 cup of grated Cheddar cheese  Pour 3 cups of pasta in boiling water and add 1/2 tbsp of salt.  Boil for 6 minutes.  Rinse off the water and keep aside.  In a frying wok, heat it with oil. 鸡蛋炒葱

2 eggs 1 big onion Garlic Pepper Salt Light soy sauce Add pepper, salt and light soy sauce into the chopped onions. Heat frying wok with oil. Add in garlic and onions. Fry until onions become soft. Add in the lightly beaten eggs. Cook until golden brown.

Baked tilapia with sambal

Fresh from oven I learn how to cook the sambal based on this link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQyF6PuAmz4 I am inspired to bake this dish based on Family Kitchen with Sherson programme on Astro. Of course you can use other fish which will be more suitable like Stingray. I am going to try a version of stingray as well. Half tilapia (Cut in half of butterfly style) Dried chilli (soak in hot water for 10 minutes) Toasted belacan Garlic Shallots Ginger Sugar Salt Calamansi (I use calamansi instead of tamarind juice) Blend garlic, shallots, toasted belacan, dried chilli and ginger with some water. Heat wok with oil. Add in the blended ingredients.  Add in sugar and salt. Use an aluminium cake plate and put aluminium foil on top. Place the tilapia together with the sambal. Sweet potato donut/kuih keria

I managed to make 4 pieces of donuts if follow the receipy given. Honey cornflakes

100g Kelogg's cornflakes 4 tbsp of honey (You can reduce the sweetness according to your likeness) 50g butter (Butterlite or any type will do) 1 box of cherry (chopped) Paper cups Melt butter and honey in a low heat frying wok. Add in cornflakes. Put all the mixture in paper cups and top with finely chopped cherries. (I manage to make around 50++ pieces.) Bake for 140 celcius for 10 minutes. (Feel free to adjust the heat bar from lower to upper if you want a darker surface, also the temperature &time-do this for all cookie,but of course you need to monitor the progress closely!) Pineapple cookie

Bake using an aluminium cake tray of 26cm for a small oven Remaining dough becomes butter cookies I followed the receipy in below link and made 20 pieces of pineapple cookies. I double up the volume of the dough and manage to make 40 pieces of pineapple cookies. As the pineapple paste that I bought at Farley, Kota Samarahan just enable me to have paste just enough for 40 cookies, so the  remaining dough i add some sugar, simply shape it with the acuan &press the surface with a fork for style and bake it at the 150 celcius for 20 minutes and it turns out to become butter cookies. For this pineapple cookies receipy, I bake mine at 150 celcius for 20 minutes. Do not overbake else the cookie which is supposed to be crunchy and soft turns hard.
